Yin Yang Master is a 2021 Chinese fantasy action film directed by Li Weiran. It is adapted from the NetEase game Onmyoji, itself drawn from Baku Yumemakura's Onmyoji novels, and it opened in China on Lunar New Year's Day, February 12, 2021.
Chen Kun and Zhou Xun star, with William Chan and Qu Chuxiao. Netflix released it internationally in March 2021.
Qing Ming is a Yin Yang Master, half human and half demon, who guards the boundary between the two worlds. When the fragile peace between humans and demons is threatened, he is caught in the middle and must fight to protect both worlds, with allies whose loyalties are not always clear. The battles are big, effects-driven fantasy set pieces.
Is it a sequel to Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity? No. Both draw on the Onmyoji stories, but they are separate productions with different casts.
Is it suitable for younger viewers? The BBFC rated it 15 for injury detail and violence.
For another Onmyoji fantasy, try Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity (2020) DVD. For a 1990s martial arts fantasy, see Warriors of Virtue (1997) DVD.
