Tiger Claws is a Canadian martial arts thriller directed by Kelly Makin in his feature debut, written by J. Stephen Maunder and made by Jalal Merhi's Film One. Cynthia Rothrock and Merhi play New York detectives, with Bolo Yeung as the killer they hunt.
It was the first of three Tiger Claws films.
Detective Linda Masterson is fed up with street crime and gets a far stranger case: martial artists are turning up dead, killed by a style called the Tiger Claw. She partners with Tarek Richards, a cop with his own martial arts background, and the two dig into the martial arts world to find a killer who wants to prove his style is the deadliest.
Where does it fit in the series? It is the first film. Tiger Claws II and Tiger Claws III follow, and all three are also available as a set.
Is it suitable for younger viewers? The BBFC rated it 15 for its 1992 UK release.
