The Stranger is a 1995 American martial arts action film directed by Fritz Kiersch and written by Gregory Poirier. It stars former professional kickboxing champion Kathy Long, with Andrew Divoff and Eric Pierpoint.
It borrows the premise of Clint Eastwood's High Plains Drifter (1973) and moves it into the world of outlaw bikers.
For years the small desert town of Lakeview, Arizona, has been ruled by a vicious biker gang led by a man called Angel. The townspeople have been scared into silence, and the sheriff has never managed to stop them. Then a mysterious woman rides in on a motorcycle and starts taking the gang apart, one member at a time. Nobody knows who she is or why she has come, and that mystery keeps the story moving between fights.
Is it a remake of High Plains Drifter? Not officially, but it borrows that film's premise.
Who stars in it? Kathy Long, with Andrew Divoff as the gang leader.
For another martial arts Western, try Savate (1995) DVD. For more women-led 1990s action, see Guardian Angel (1994) DVD.
