Lion vs. Lion is a 1981 Shaw Brothers kung fu comedy co-directed by Chin Yuet-sang and Hsu Hsia, who also wrote it. It stars Lo Meng of the Venom Mob alongside Wong Yu, with Johnny Wang Lung-wei and Sharon Yeung.
The lion dance sequences, comparing northern and southern styles, are the film's calling card. It is also known as Roar of the Lion.
A teacher stumbles across a secret list of anti-Qing rebels and becomes a target for loyalists of the Qing government who want it back. The film mixes comic scrapes with serious fights and builds to elaborate lion dance contests in which the stakes are much higher than pride.
Is it the same film as Roar of the Lion? Yes. Roar of the Lion is an alternate title.
Who are the stars? Lo Meng and Wong Yu, with Johnny Wang Lung-wei and Sharon Yeung.
