About the film

A pirate army and a mismatched band of heroes

72 Desperate Rebels is a 1978 Taiwanese martial arts adventure directed by Lin Bing, set during the Ming dynasty and packed with the gadget weapons and themed henchmen that make late-1970s Taiwanese productions so distinctive.

Pai Ying, Chan Sing, Barry Chan, Tsung Hua and Lung Fei lead a big cast.

The film

A notorious pirate chief gathers dozens of fighters from across China to take on the imperial government. Standing against him is an unlikely alliance: an imperial agent, the daughter of a murdered governor, a mercenary with his own agenda and a blind swordsman. With so many factions in play, nobody can be sure of anyone, and the film keeps throwing new opponents at the heroes.
