About the film

The film that introduced Hwang Jang-lee's Silver Fox

Secret Rivals is a kung fu film from Seasonal Film Corporation, directed by Ng See-yuen with James Nam. Ng co-wrote it with Tung Lo, and it was shot on location in South Korea and Hong Kong.

John Liu, Don Wong Tao and Hwang Jang-lee star. It is also known as Silver Fox Rivals and, after its Chinese title, Northern Leg, Southern Fist.

The film

Northern Leg travels across China and into Korea to find the man responsible for his parents' death. Southern Fist, a government agent, is on the trail of the same man, the Silver Fox, a feared bandit with devastating kicks. The two fighters start out as rivals, but when each fails to beat the Silver Fox alone, they decide to team up.

Before you settle in

Why do some sources list 1975? It opened in some places in late 1975, and the main Hong Kong release was in 1976.

Who plays the Silver Fox? Hwang Jang-lee, in one of the roles that made him famous.
