About the film

The film that changed Hong Kong swordplay

The One Armed Swordman, best known as The One-Armed Swordsman, is a 1967 Shaw Brothers wuxia directed by Chang Cheh, who co-wrote it with Ni Kuang. Its tougher, bloodier style helped change the genre, and it became the first Hong Kong film to take HK$1 million at the local box office, making Jimmy Wang Yu a superstar.

Lisa Chiao Chiao, Tien Feng and Angela Pan co-star, and Lau Kar-leung and Tong Kai worked on the action. It opened in Hong Kong in July 1967.
