Duel of the Seven Tigers is a 1979 Hong Kong kung fu film directed by Yeung Kuen for Goldig Films. Cliff Lok leads, with Sharon Yeung (Yeung Pan-pan), Phillip Ko and the Korean kicking star Casanova Wong.
It also features Chiu Chi-ling, a real-life Hung Gar master, which gives the school-versus-school theme some authenticity.
Defeated at Shaolin, a fighter wanders until he founds his own temple and his own style. Generations later, his ninth successor sets out to prove that style by challenging and beating every kung fu school in the region. The schools in his path have to defend their names, and the film plays out as a series of challenge matches between very different styles.
Is it the same film as Duel of the 7 Tigers? Yes. Film databases often use the numeral.
Who directed it? Yeung Kuen, also credited as Yang Chuan.
